Lok Adalat vs Evening Court vs Weekend Court: Which Is Best for Your Delhi Challan?

Delhi now gives vehicle owners three special routes to settle pending traffic challans that have reached court: the National Lok Adalat, Special Evening Courts and Weekend Traffic Courts. Each has its own timing, booking method and limits. Picking the right one saves time, leave and money.

National Lok Adalat – Best for Bulk Settlement

Lok Adalat is organised by the legal services authorities with the courts and traffic police. It handles a huge number of challans in one day and settlements are often at a lower amount. The catch: dates are few (the next is 25 October 2026), and slips run out quickly.

Choose it if: you have many compoundable challans and can plan around the date.

Evening Court – Best for Working Professionals

Special Evening Courts sit after office hours at major court complexes. Booking is online and quick if your mobile is linked to your vehicle.

Choose it if: you have a few challans and want them cleared on a weekday without taking leave.

Weekend Court – Best for Flexibility

Since 5 July 2026, Weekend Traffic Courts sit every Sunday and second Saturday across Delhi’s district court complexes. They are available every week, unlike Lok Adalat.

Choose it if: weekdays are impossible for you, or you missed the Lok Adalat slip.

What About the Virtual Court?

If your challan shows “Virtual Court”, you can usually pay the proposed fine online at vcourts.gov.in – no visit needed. See our Virtual Court challan guide.

Our Recommendation

  1. First check every challan’s status by vehicle number.
  2. Pay online whatever is still with the traffic police.
  3. Pay Virtual Court challans online if the proposed amount is fair.
  4. For court challans: use Lok Adalat if the date is near and you get a slip; otherwise use Weekend or Evening Court.

Still unsure? Our registration desk has separate forms for Lok Adalat, Evening Court and Weekend Court assistance.
