What Is a Special Evening Court?

A Special Evening Court is a court session held after regular hours so that working people can resolve petty matters like compoundable traffic challans without taking leave. In Delhi, these sessions are organised by the District Courts with the Delhi Traffic Police at major court complexes, and are a popular alternative to waiting for the next Lok Adalat.

Which challans can go to the Evening Court?

Compoundable traffic offences that have been sent to court – such as overspeeding, signal jumping, no helmet or seatbelt, parking and PUC violations. Serious offences like drunk driving, accident-related cases or underage driving follow the regular court process.

Evening Court vs Lok Adalat vs Weekend Court

Evening Courts are best if you have a few challans and want them cleared on a weekday without missing work. If you have many old challans, the National Lok Adalat may give a better settlement; if weekdays are impossible, choose the Weekend Court.
